How We Verify Listings
No directory is useful if you can't trust what's on it. Here is exactly where our data comes from, what we check, and — just as important — what we don't.
Where listings come from
Every listing starts from the contractor's public Google Business Profile — the same listing you'd find on Google Maps. That gives us the business name, location, phone number, Google rating, and review count. We don't write reviews, edit ratings, or accept payment to change them.
What "verified" means
Before a contractor appears in the directory, we review their website to confirm they actually offer land clearing, forestry mulching, or closely related services — not just general landscaping or tree trimming. Businesses we can't confirm are left out. From the same review we gather their listed services, service area, years in business, and other details you see on their profile.
What the Insured and Licensed badges mean
The Insured and Licensed badges mean the contractor states on their own website that they are insured or licensed. We do not independently confirm insurance certificates or license records, and coverage can change at any time.
Our advice for any project: before work starts, ask the contractor for a current Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming you as certificate holder, and confirm any required license with the relevant NC licensing board. A reputable contractor will not hesitate to provide either.
Claimed listings
A ✓ Claimedbadge means the business owner (or their staff) has taken ownership of the listing and confirmed or updated its details themselves. We review every claim request manually before approving it. Unclaimed listings are built from public information and haven't yet been confirmed by the owner.
Mistakes and corrections
Automated checks aren't perfect, and businesses change. If you spot something wrong — a contractor who no longer operates, a wrong service area, a listing that shouldn't be here — email info@vertlyn.com and we'll investigate. Contractors can claim their listing for free to correct it directly.
Who we are and how we make money
Land Clearing Directory is operated by Vertlyn, LLC, a North Carolina company. The directory is free for homeowners and free for contractors to claim. There are no lead-gen forms — every phone number connects you directly to the contractor, and we never sell your information. We may offer contractors paid featured placement in the future; featured listings will always be clearly labeled, and payment never affects a contractor's reviews, badges, or verification status.
In the interest of full transparency: Vertlyn's principals are also partners in Wildwood Eco Solutions, one of the contractors listed here. Wildwood follows the same rules as every other listing — same verification, same badge criteria, and clearly labeled if featured.
